Sensational Program Director Joins The Stanford Who's Who Community
Stanford Who's Who welcomes Deanne Gillies to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of her sensational work with the senior community.
KITCHENER, ON, CANADA, September 17, 2010 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Stanford Who's Who welcomes Deanne Gillies to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of her sensational work with the senior community. As Director of the K-W Seniors Day Program for the past 3 years, as well as throughout her incredible 19 years with the agency, Deanne has consistently demonstrated the vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be considered among the best.
Established in 1974, the K-W Seniors Day Program is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing activities and services that are designed to meet individual senior's unique needs based on their interests and strengths. The program was originally funded through Ministry of Community and Social Services and its current funding comes from the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network.
They offer a variety of activities and programs that provide participants with both mental and physical stimulation as well as socialization and personal interaction. The program is operated by a volunteer board of directors with referrals made to the program by caregivers, Community Care Access Center and other Community Support Services agencies.
Deanne is responsible for managing the organization as well as overseeing the daily operations. She is also actively involved in the funding aspect of the program. She is extremely proud of the K-W Seniors Day Program staff and volunteers who make the program a special, welcoming place for their clients. Everyone shows such dedication and passion in what they do every day.
Deanne serves on numerous other committees to help support and promote the health and wellness of seniors in her community. These include being the acting Chairperson of the Waterloo Wellington Adult Day Program Network as well as sitting on the Facilitation working group for the Community Support Services Network and the Easy Coordinated Access Working group within the CSS Network of services.
During her educational career, Deanne graduated from Renison University College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990. She was nominated by peers for the Service Award for Geriatric Excellence in the Executive category. In the time away from her busy schedule, Deanne greatly enjoys music, outdoors, canoeing and nature hikes.
