Emmanuel Kofi Akoto gifts practiced expertise in healthcare to senior citizen population
EAST ORANGE, NJ, June 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Emmanuel Kofi Akoto, Physical Therapist for Select Medical Group, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of healthcare.
With six years of experience in his field, Mr. Akoto specializes in treating geriatric patients. As a physical therapist for Select Medical Group, he is responsible for caring for residents in nursing homes, providing skilled physical therapy treatment including gait training with appropriate assistive devices, balance and coordination activities, performing deep and soft tissue and massages and utilizing modalities such as ultra sound, shortwave diathermy, infrared light treatment, functional electrical stimulation and jobst compression pumps to enhance their physical program. He also promotes total wellness for the geriatric population and handles medical emergencies including cerebrovascular accidents, spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, traumatic injuries and other neurological disorders. Also, as a personal trainer, or strength training specialist, he provides personalized management of the fitness program utilizing well-planned and relevent regimen, servicing a wide range of age groups. He is also well knowledgeable in nutrition, diets, weight loss, muscle gain, fixing posture, building muscle endurance and eliminating muscle imbalance. He became involved in his profession through his desire to help people and attributes his success to his hard work.
Mr. Akoto received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from Mercy College. He hopes to move back to Ghana, West Africa, one day and set up a practice with his father, a physician.
